Graduation Awards Procedure
In supporting FCS’s philosophy of personalized learning, the school has adopted the following procedure for determining graduation honors/awards.
Graduating with HonorsIn order to graduate with Honors from Forest Charter School, the following are considered:
- Weighted GPA is calculated through the fall semester of the academic year in which the student graduates (i.e., the 2018–19 school year).
- All semesters, including those taken concurrently at another institution, are used in calculating the weighted GPA. It is the student’s responsibility to provide all outside transcripts to FCS.
- Students graduating at the end of the fall semester will be considered part of the following June’s graduating class for purposes of these awards.
- Students graduating with Honors must have a GPA of 3.5–3.99
- In order to qualify for the Graduating with Honors award, students must be enrolled in at least a college prep curriculum as available.
- Weighted GPA of qualified students is the sole determinant of this award.
Graduating with High HonorsIn order to graduate with High Honors from Forest Charter School, the following are considered:
- Weighted GPA is calculated through the fall semester of the academic year in which the student graduates (i.e., the 2018–19 school year).

- The opportunity to make the commencement speech will be offered first to the student graduating with the highest weighted GPA. If this student declines to speak, the student with the next highest weighted GPA will be offered the opportunity to speak. FCS will continue to offer the speaking opportunity based solely on weighted GPA ranking, and FCS reserves the right to forgo a student speaker at the school’s discretion.
